An Interview with one of the best vocalists in Macedonia

Online Podium: Natalia hi, the Macedonian scene has known you for years, and for sure, in Macedonia, and especially in Skopje, where you perform the most, there is no one who doesn’t know about you, about your songs, about the album, about your performances at the Macedonian festivals, and about the team you work with, so my question will go in another direction:

What would Natalija Danailova say about herself to the world audience, to the music critics and the producers outside of Macedonia?

Natalija: With such a kind of questions, I move myself with my thoughts in another direction beyond the borders, even though the good old saying says that the music knows no borders at all. Yes, I have been thinking about a breakthrough outside the borders of our homeland in the sense of being present more often with performances, while not neglecting our audience as well, but the fact that I do not have a strong desire to convey messages in another language contributes to not seeing myself on the world stage. I say that for now, yes, but I never say never. I have more and more comments that I am not for this scene, I am not for here, and everyone has the right to experience me as they experience and perceive me indeed. I know that I still have a lot to give at home, but how everything will move in the future, we will witness all together. I am here for now. At the same time, an artist, a creative person, is not tied to the place where they were born or where they create, we belong to the world and transmit from all places or have inspiration from all experiences regardless of the location. Especially the music, it reaches anyone in the world without being physically present, in all of the places where our music is heard or our work is performed or our poetry is read. I am only thinking of singing in English so that it would be understood by a wider audience, and that’s all.

Online Podium: Something tells me that the mission of an artist is, with their talents, their original creations, their unique way of performing, to make the world better and more beautiful place to live, and to make the people in the world to be more fulfilled and more eudaimonic, so in that sense, I would aske you:

What does Natalia Danailova have to give to the world, with which she would make it more beautiful, and what is it in your songs and music, which would make people more fulfilled, more eudaimonic and closer to perfection?

Natalija: Natalia has to give the world honesty, inspiration, awakening feelings that are not so common, getting out of comfort of the everyday life... Natalia makes people cry with her ballads, inspires some of them to think, and others to rest in their thoughts. Natalia sings and raises awareness, conveys a message through a song - gently and truthfully without rebellion, non-violently. Natalia makes people want to listen to her when they are traveling in a car or when they are at a vacation, and always there is something that connects them either with the music or with a part of the text.

Online Podium: We live in a time when the word “ambition” is constantly in use, in a time when people's value is measured by how much and what ambitions they have and nurture, modesty is put in a shameful place, and it is said to be useless and a characteristic of the weak, so, I can't hold myself but ask you:

What are the limits of your modesty and how and where do you see your place and role under the global sun of the popular music? Are you thinking in that direction and have you, if it's not a secret, made contacts with any music producers from the West, and would you please us with a project of this caliber as well?

Natalija: Yes, the modesty is not so appreciated so much, but its quality is not measured by any yardstick, either you have it or you don't. I was brought up and I grew up that way. I just know how to give my all when I sing in an immodest manner, without sparing my life force at all. And where and how it leads me through life, I am sure that you know very well.

It's time to see you on the world media, so where and when can we expect it?

Natalija: I only know for sure that my task and my mission is to sing and convey beauty, and in relation with your question: when is the right time and which is the right place to penetrate, we have to wait patiently, and the time will teach us everything, at last, the time is the best teacher among all, isn’t it!?
